Men's football coaching positions finalised for the 2019 season

The GFNC are pleased to announce that all men's football coaching positions have now been finalised for the 2019 season.

As was previously announced Clinton Young will continue as our senior coach supported by Damien Slater as non playing assistant coach. However for 2019 Clinton will also be supported by playing assistant coaches in Casey Summerfield, Matt Goodyear, Jimmy Ferry and Pat McKenna.

We are pleased to confirm that Wayne Meacham will continue as our Reserves coach in 2019. Wayne did a sensational job under difficult circumstances in 2019 and we are looking forward to greater stability in our playing group for 2019 under Wayne's leadership.

We are also pleased to announce the appointment of Shaun Cassidy as our U/18's coach in 2019. As a former premiership player of the club, Shaun has also been as Assistant Coach with the U/18's for many years and we are very fortunate to have someone with Shaun's skill, experience and passion join our coaching team in 2019.

Finally the GFNC football department and committee would like to acknowledge the contribution of our 2018 U/18's premiership coach, Marty Lakey. Marty has been a strong supporter of GFNC for many years and has an incredible amount of knowledge when it comes to football. More importantly Marty has proven to be an outstanding leader of young men and it was fitting that he was able to lead our emerging group of young players to the premiership in 2018 before he chose to step away from a formal coaching role for 2019. Of course, we can expect Marty to continue to be available to assist our playing group, and in particular Shaun, throughout the upcoming season.
